I’d generalize this to be rattling off solutions (whether buzzwords or not) without spending enough effort to understand the specific situation and problems
Understanding the business? Sounds like the bane of “expert judging panels” everywhere ;)
I get so tired of people who have never operated outside of the comfort of their employment telling me how to start a business.
I stand up and leave.
Haha, yeah. It’s frustrating to receive and even worse to overhear.
This is the pattern-matching approach to advice. Works some times, but when the dataset you’re matching against (your understanding of startup X) is much smaller than the whole dataset (a deep understanding of startup X), things can get comically off the rails.
