London
I love the startup scene in London. It takes a bit of legwork to bring the right people together, but it’s definitely happening.
Events I help put together
Burger night – likeminded founders hanging out over £5 burgers and belgian beer. This event is about the people, not the companies, so try to keep pitching to a minimum.
Open office hours – book a slot & drop by for a quick 30 minute chat about your startup woes or glories. Both this & burger night are in east London on Mondays.
Tech startup bootcamp – a 15 hour workshop (spread across 5 nights) about foundational skills for career entrepreneurship. Drop in your email now for a zero-commitment, 60% earlybird discount.
Other events I adore & recommend
Leancamp – the best startup conference, full stop. Monthly meetups plus big unconferences throughout Europe.
Sal Virani’s bootstrapping bootcamp (link coming soon) – another 15 hour workshop covering businesses that need to grow big without ever taking outside financing. Sal is the organiser of leancamp and knows his stuff.
Seedcamp – the best early stage funding outside the valley. If you’re starting out and have a product prototype, apply for a spot at one of the mini-seedcamps.
HN London Meetup - Over the past 3 years, I’ve seen this event grow from 10 guys in an office to 500+ in a huge auditorium. The current organisers are doing an incredible job bringing in great speakers and more free beer than any crowd could reasonably consume.
Silicon Milkroundabout - A job fair featuring nothing but technical jobs for London startups. The most recent event had 1000+ attendees and a stunning 10% of them left with sweet startup jobs.
