Hands-on startup bootcamp

Most startup advice comes from people within the silicon valley who have ready access to top-notch help and capital. It’s great advice which ignores the realities experienced by those of us who live elsewhere and don’t have access to an easy $200k from “friends and family”.

Based on my experience working with loads of very early stage founders in Europe and London through universities, mentorship programs, and accelerators, I’m running two bootcamp courses to teach the 3 foundational skills I believe are missing from new founders’ toolkits.

Tickets are normally £250, but you get a huge 60% reduction to £100 just by dropping your email in the box right now. There’s no commitment whatsoever–you’re just locking in your discount by expressing early interest. Leave your email just below the video.

And don’t forget to leave your email below to lock in the 60% discount.

The exact curriculum & speaker list is still being refined (hence the early bird discount), and in the meantime you can check the video & details below for a bit more info.

Topics & curriculum overview

Marketing-driven startups

This is a hands-on topic, with homework exercises covering: driving traffic, building an audience, using analytics, running A/B tests, and improving conversion rates.

This is the core skill of all marketing-driven start-ups, including ecommerce, SaaS, and the vast majority of other B2C businesses.

If attendees don’t already have a site, we’ll help them set up a blog to experiment on.

Sales-driven startups

This is a group workshop topic, with experts brought in to facilitate certain exercises, covering: talking to customers, using advisors, asking useful questions, and effectively pitching your company.

This is the core skill of all sales-driven startups, including enterprise software, service companies, and any B2B business with solutions priced above $10k.

Startup literacy – business models, funding, and roadmaps

This is a group & individual workshop topic, with experts brought in to facilitate certain discussions, covering: understanding other company’s business models, explaining your own business model, awareness of early stage funding options, and deciding how to attack your business risks.

This is a general skill which is crucial for understanding the activities and possibilities in your space. We will be analysing businesses both large and small, chosen by the attendees’ goals. Attendees will also document and clarify their own business model (or come up with a business which matches their goals).

Structure

A three hour intro course (which is free to all and will be run multiple times) is then followed by four additional 3-hour courses, spread over a two-week period (Tues/Thurs, Tues/Thurs).

The course will be run in both February and March.
